2013 Stranger Genius award winner and 3 time Princess Grace awardee zoe | juniper is a Seattle based dance and visual arts team that has been described as a "crazy dream you just can't shake" by Karen Campbell of the Boston Globe. Co-founded by choreographer Zoe Scofield and visual artist Juniper Shuey the company creates stunning dance, video installations and photography works.
Their collaboration began in 2004 with I am nothing without you for On the Boards' NW New Works Festival, and eventually led to the formation of their company in 2006. Since then their work has been presented and commissioned by American Realness Festival, Bates Dance Festival, Body Festival, BodyTraffic, Boston Conservatory, Bumbershoot, CAC New Orleans, CalArts, Carolina Performing Arts, City Arts Festival, CNDC Angers, Columbia College, Cornish College of the Arts, Dance Theater Workshop/NYLA, DancePlace, Edge Festival/GloAtl, FringeArts, Frye Art Museum, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, Myrna Loy Center, New York Live Arts, On the Boards, Pennsylvania Ballet, PS122's COIL Festival with Baryshnikov Arts Center, PuSh Festival, REDCAT, SCUBA National Touring Network, Southern Lights Dance, Spectrum Dance Theater, The Joyce, Trafo House of Contemporary Art, Velocity Dance Center, Wesleyan University, World Music/CRASHArts, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
Along with composer/musician Morgan Henderson, zoe | juniper co-created the Secret of Gold Festival in 2006, an annual multi-disciplinary festival in Arlington, WA that is now known as Smoke Farm Lo-Fi Arts Festival. The company has received funding and residencies from Artist Trust, New England Foundation for the Arts' National Dance Project, National Performance Network, Foundation for Contemporary Arts, Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, Dance Theater Workshop, MacDowell Colony, MAD AIR, Arts Center New Zealand, Velocity Dance Center, On the Boards, and the Andrew Mellon Foundation.
